Blocking popups by editing /etc/hosts

I think this should work. Add lines like this to /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1       instantcheckmate.com
127.0.0.1       http://www.youropinionsrewarded.com
then flush the settings with
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache
